Last week, I completed my third required interview with Dr. Shilpa Chitnis, a neurologist at UT Southwestern who specializes in movement disorders such as Parkinson's disease. Through our interview, I learned about the importance of trial and error and choosing what fulfills your needs and lights a fire inside of you. I am so glad I had the opportunity of speaking with such a multi-faceted and hard working person; she really emphasized the importance of being a woman in STEM and pursuing your dreams.

Furthermore, I also had my first research speech of the year this past Friday. It summarized all the primary research, secondary research, and my original work into one presentation. We started off with a time requirement of about 10 minutes since this was our first one, but as we go through the year, we are going to be building up to 30 minutes, the duration of the speech we will be giving at our Final Presentation Night. I was a little nervous to do my speech, but I am proud of how it turned out. I am excited to see how my research and content grow throughout the year.

I am still working on my original work, and as our due date gets closer, I am more determined to work on it and see the end result I come up with.

See you next week,

Afifa
