Over the past week, I learned some great things that will greatly benefit my ISM journey. I had an interview with Dr. Sasha Alick from UT SouthWestern and she is a neurologist which a specialty in epilepsy and seizure disorders. Speaking to Dr. Alick exposed me to many of the sub-specialties within neurology.  For example, there are neurologists that specialize in immunology, behavior, and movement disorders. I had a great time talking to her over Zoom and learning about all the nuances of her job, like tough decisions that need to be made about patients and how taking breaks for yourself is important when working in such a mentally taxing field.

Along with my interviews, I am also working on my original work project about traumatic brain injuries and am going to create a research paper along with my TBI brochure. I am encountering many obstacles along the way, particularly due to my lack of knowledge on this subject. Despite this, I am learning so much through researching this topic and I am going to start to compile information on case studies done on people with TBIs.

I also attended a Microsoft workshop on LinkedIn through Zoom which gave tips on how I can maximize my usage. Many of these things were useful, and I can use them to constantly polish and keep my profile up to date.

I have had a pretty busy week, but I am sure that all of this will come together in the end!

Talk to you next week,

Afifa.
